Description

Mult-Timbral Physical Modeling Voice

Surface is a multi-timbral physical modeling voice capable of emulating the sonic qualities of acoustic instruments or morphing into otherworldly synthetic textures. Physical models contain plucked strings, prepared piano, and an assortment of melodic percussion, with up to 8 voices of polyphony. Creating a sense of space is easy with the true stereo outputs and configurable spatialization modes. Surface provides a unique take on physical modeling which blurs the line between emulation and synthesis to create entirely new worlds of sound.

Awesome dreamy to gritty tones, ample CV control, 8-note polyphony. I have only begun to scratch the surface (!) of this pretty amazing module. It produces some very organic tones, the plucked string model emulating a strummed chord on an acoustic guitar is very convincing. This module gets compared to MI Rings. I don’t own Rings so cannot comment. I was more concerned of a too large an overlap with MI Plaits, which I do own. These modules are different enough that both will remain in my rack. They play together nicely. Check out ‘Dark Mode’... my favorite I think.
